Funny man Shonisani Muleya, affectionately known as Ashifashabba, is conducting induction sessions for the 2008 Smart Young Mindz Challenge.

The challenge is open only to Gauteng pupils in Grades 8, 9 and 10. It seeks to stimulate pupils' interest in maths, science, technology and entrepreneurship by encouraging them to think about smart business ideas.

It also urges them to investigate problems, wants and needs in their communities and to generate ideas for commercially-viable products or services.

Sponsoring partners are Blue IQ, the Gauteng education department and Sowetan, which has made the project part of the Aggrey Klaaste Nation Building Foundation's youth development activities.

Ashifashabba's road shows started on Monday and will end on March 14.

The closing date for the Challenge's entries is May 28. Adjudication will take place between May 28 and June 13 and the winners will be announced in June. - Victor Mecoamere
