The relaunched Forum of Black Journalists (FBJ) will host ANC president Jacob Zuma in Sandton on Friday.

Before its disbanding, the forum came under criticism for excluding whites.

Monthly imbizo sessions graced by politicians and business people were a prominent feature of the forum since it was founded in 1996.

Nomvula Khalo, one of the founders, said the FBJ was the mouthpiece of black journalists for a number of years until its demise.

"There's a need for black journalists to interact and debate issues they report about. The imbizos offer an opportunity for black journalists to engage on a variety of burning issues with guests," she said.

Khalo said the FBJ would extend its mandate to include training for black journalists.
