The City of Johannesburg 2010 World Cup unit is planning to host a summit in April to deal with the progress of the tournament.

The summit, which will attract more than 600 delegates, will coincide with the yearly Rand Show taking place at the Nasrec Expo Centre.

Known as Joburg United, the summit will be a yearly event in the build-up to the World Cup. It is aimed at uniting the city and all stakeholders.

The City of Johannesburg has been organising citizen's talks in all the seven regions in the build-up to the summit to update the residents about the World Cup.

Sibongile Mazibuko, the executive director of the World Cup unit in the city, and Nandi Mayathula-Khoza have been talking to residents at the citizen's dialogues.

Mayathula-Khoza is the chairman of the 2010 World Cup mayoral subcommittee for the City of Johannesburg. Johannesburg has put aside R2,5 billion for the hosting of the World Cup.
