Irvin Khoza, Local Organising Committee chairman, yesterday urged South Africans to fully support the 2009 Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup preparations.

Speaking at a media briefing, a clearly concerned Khoza said the success of the two competitions lies in the support of all stakeholders.

"In Germany, on the eve of the Confederations Cup, people were still doing the painting but that was never in the papers."

Khoza also announced that Tim Modise, who is their communications and media director, was no longer leaving the organisation.

He was also quick to point out that anybody who tries to derail the process of preparing for a successful Confederations Cup and World Cup will be fired.

"For us what is important is the project and not ourselves. It is not about Irvin Khoza and Danny Jordaan, it is about the country and continent."

On the power struggle reports at the LOC, Jordaan and Nomfanelo Magwentshu strongly denied that there were problems between the two of them.

Modise, Jordaan and Magwentshu were at the briefing, as were general manager Dennis Mumble, finance head Farouk Seedat and safety and security head Linda Mti.
