Barely three months after SABC1 actor bra Steve, otherwise known as Thabo Mnguni, was hired by a drama school to mentor young people in television and radio skills, he has left his post amid allegations of misconduct and theft.

Mnguni joined True Story Entertainment in December last year. The management claims that barely a month later they received complaints from a number of students who said that Mnguni had "proposed love" to them.

The school's manager, Mahlomula Nkoane, said they could not believe the allegation when they received the first complaint. But when more complaints were made, they confronted Mnguni.

"Shortly after confronting him he resigned from the company and by then we had established that the stories were true because he was going out with one of the students," said Nkoane.

Nkoane said they were worried about the image created by Mnguni's leaving the school.

"His exit was a great loss to the school; his contribution meant a lot to us," he said.

Nkoane said that a few days before Mnguni left he stole the company's laptop.

"When confronted, he denied stealing the computer.

"We reported the matter to the police. He only returned the laptop after police intervened," said Nkoane.

When contacted by Sowetan, Mnguni denied that he had proposed love to students and also denied allegations of stealing the laptop.

"These people are afraid of competition. I am opening my own radio and television training academy soon.

"These people used me; they used my name to gain more students and now that I have resigned they are out to trash my name so that when I open my company no one will want to have anything to do with me," said Mnguni.

He alleges Nkoane promised young girls jobs if they went out with him.
