An eight-year-old Limpopo girl was locked in a house and repeatedly raped for hours and given R12 to keep quiet by a 25-year-old man.

The incident happened at Ga-Mabulana Village in Bolobedu on Monday after the suspect, together with three accomplices, had met the girl and her two friends near a road that passes through bushes.

The suspect and his accomplices tried to rape the girls but they managed to run in different directions.

The alleged rapist managed to catch the eight-year-old girl. He allegedly dragged her to his home where she was repeatedly raped.

She was then given R12 and threatened not to tell anyone, including her parents.

Police spokesman in the area, Malesela Ramoshaba, said the two girls who had managed to evade their pursuers informed the girl's parents who then reported the matter to the police.

Another rape incident allegedly took place at Ga-Kgapane Township. Two suspects allegedly broke into a house and repeatedly raped a 12-year-old girl who was allegedly sleeping alone at the time.

In a separate incident at Ga-Mabulana, a six-year-old girl was also allegedly raped by an unknown suspect who managed to run away afterwards.
