Stylish attire fit for moms-to-be

Last week we ran a story on pregnancy, and gave expectant moms tips on how they can look sexy and stylish throughout the term.

Last week we ran a story on pregnancy, and gave expectant moms tips on how they can look sexy and stylish throughout the term.

Today, our in-house image coach China Mngomezulu tells us what not to wear during this wonderful period and gives advice on make-up routines for moms-to-be.

Clothing items to avoid during pregnancy:

Avoid wearing clothes that are too tight or too small, such as jeans that can't fasten and/or shirts that don't cover the belly.

Avoid oversize dresses, T-shirts and sweaters. They will only make you look like a tent. Avoid wearing high heels, they'll only give you back trouble. Wear comfortable, well-fitting shoes with a medium heel.

Make-up:

With all the changes your body goes through during pregnancy, many women neglect to change their make-up routine during this time.

The increased level of hormones that affect your body during pregnancy can also affect your skin. For a good make-up routine, take five minutes in the morning to make up your eyes and apply a bit of lipstick.

For an extra bit of colour, apply a cream blush to your cheekbones.

If you find that your skin changes dramatically during pregnancy (like the skin getting excessively oily or dry), you probably need to switch your make-up tactics altogether.

For dry skin, apply a good moisturiser.

For oily skin, look for products specifically designed to combat oil and add those to your simplified make-up routine. You can even search for beauty products that are designed specifically for pregnant women.
