Sporadic work stoppages experienced at Mpumalanga's Mbombela 2010 World Cup Stadium are a matter of serious concern, given the tight schedule allowed the construction companies to complete the project.

Already much time has been lost through previous stoppages by construction workers at the site, including the one in Durban, in recent months.

To avert further disruptive disputes, it is incumbent on all stakeholders to agree on a dispute-mechanism that will allow work to continue unencumbered even though an impasse between the two parties remains unresolved.

Other mechanisms can then be set in place to avoid the damaging strikes, which portray the country as being unpreparedto host the showpiece.
