Charl Wilken
Our used test model car for this week had only done a mere 35000km on the clock.
It is thus not necessary to discuss the condition of the car since it has only done a few kilometres. It is expected that the car looks just like it did, immaculate.
The whole KB-range is a desirable package. Bakkies such as Isuzu can be rest assured to get practicality and trustworthiness. When it comes to off-road capabilities, the Isuzu will conquer most terrains without a sweat.
This is mainly because of the high ground clearance and strong chassis with diff-lock. All in all, the complete outside package makes the Isuzu one of the best-looking bakkies on the South African market.
The interior of the Isuzu oozes quality. Not only are the seats covered with beautiful and strong materials, but the materials are also cleverly used. The steering wheel and gear knob are covered in leather, making the interior pleasant to look at. There are aluminium inserts on the doors and middle console to make the luxury feeling complete.
The cabin not only feels spacious, but it really is. Leg room for passengers is more than just sufficient. Five adults will sit comfortably.
But it is under the hood where most of the Isuzu's trustworthiness lies. Our model, the 3,0 turbo diesel engine variant, is by far the best buy in the KB-range. This powerplant is very willing, and most of the power is available at relatively low rpms. Power output stands at 88 kW and 280 Nm of torque, which means this vehicle has enough horses to travel with the utmost ease at highway speeds. A four- speed automatic gearbox delivers power to the rear wheels.
Our model was equipped with smash- and-grab window tint, roof racks, aircon, electric windows, adjustable power steering, driver's airbag and front-loader MP3/ CD-player.
