The DA is again expecting the unexpected from President Thabo Mbeki. Helen Zille made several unreasonable demands and hoped Mbeki would include them in his State of the Nation address.

It wanted Mbeki to pronounce against incorporating the Scorpions into the SAPS. Reasons for and against incorporation have been debated. The ANC has taken a stand on the matter and that position will be upheld and supported by every ANC member.

The DA wants to see a divided ANC and it will use every trick in the book to sow division in the ruling party.

The DA forgets that the president, his executive and everyone in the public service must carry out the ruling party's mandate as long as the policies and mandates do not conflict with the Constitution.

Zille is wayward to call for Parliament to be dissolved so that elections could be held simply because Mbeki did not oppose incorporation.

The ANC cannot be held to ransom by people like Zille, whose administration in Cape Town is also not perfect. Mbeki was spot on in his address and we look forward to a united ANC which will carry out the decisions and resolutions adopted in Polokwane. A united ANC spells doom and gloom to parties like the DA.

Mbeki is not a DA member to be remote-controlled. As the country's president and member of the ANC, he will advance the work of the ANC.
