Business summit delayed

The eagerly awaited fundraising 2010 World Cup finals business opportunities summit in Polokwane, which will be hosted by the South African Football Association in Limpopo , has been moved from February 20 to 21.

Nakedi Lekota, pictured, Safa Limpopo president, said: "We have been informed by the office of Dr Danny Jordaan [Local Organising Committee chief executive] that he will be in Cape Town on the same day for the Budget speech.

"Jordaan has been invited to deliver a keynote address at the summit to shed some light on the business opportunities for the people of Limpopo. The initial plan was for Jordaan to make a presentation in the morning and fly to Cape Town via Johannesburg in the afternoon.

"The problem is that he could not get a connecting flight to be in Parliament on time for the Budget speech where the 2010 World Cup is naturally going to feature. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the change of dates.

"The summit has generated a lot of interest, we have been inundated with inquiries from people even outside Limpopo after Sowetan carried a story about our event two weeks ago. It is clear people want to benefit from the World Cup."

Safa Limpopo said the money raised during the summit would be used to finance the soccer development programmes in the province.
