The case against four men accused of killing two people in an armed robbery in the Johannesburg city centre 16 months ago was postponed yesterday.

Phana Muziwenhlanhla Makhanya, 28, Menzi Hlongwa, 20, Siphamandla Sigidi Gasela, 22, and Phikani Sibongiseni Ngidi, 24, are accused of murder, attempted murder, robbery and possessing illegal firearms and ammunition.

Fifteen-month-old Khensani Mitileni died on the scene during a shoot out between Coin Security guards and the robbers.

Sindisiwe Lindiwe Zulu died later of gunshot wounds.

High court prosecutor Deon van Wyk asked for the case to be postponed because defence lawyer Advocate Mathebula, who represents Ngidi, was sick.

Van Wyk said Mathebula would be unavailable for two to three weeks because of injuries sustained in a car accident.

So far eight of 54 witnesses have testified, including Khensani's mother Cynthia Mitileni.
