The South African Under-19 cricket squad jetted out of the country at the weekend highly motivated to represent the country at the seventh ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Malaysia, starting from February 17 to March 2.

This after the 15-member team was presented with green and gold colours at a function held at the High Performance Centre, University of Pretoria on Friday night.

Gerald Majola, chief executive of Cricket South Africa, was among the dignitaries present at the ceremony.

In his address, Majola said: "The boys know the importance of wearing green and gold and these colours are a source of inspiration.

"We are really inspired by them when they are just about to undertake this important journey in their endeavour to display their talents.

"The South African nation is behind them all the way and we are confident that they will do us proud."

The home side are in Group B and they will face a strong challenge from the likes of India, West Indies and Papua New Guinea.

The squad: Wayne Parnell (captain); Roy Adams; Matthew Arnold; Clayton August; Bradley Barnes; Daniel Childs; Sybrand Engelbrecht; Reeza Hendricks; Pieter Malan; Mangaliso Mosehle; Abraham Pienaar; Rilee Rossouw; Jon Smuts; Yaseen Vallie; Johnathan Vandiar.
