The Limpopo farmer accused of chaining two workers to a storeroom roof for a night is being investigated on a similar charge.
Kruger Robertse, 36, had allegedly meted out similar punishment to a former Zimbabwean employee last year.
According to police spokesman Senior Superintendent Motlafela Mojapelo, Robertse had allegedly tied Piet Nnebe up with chains and assaulted him after accusing him of theft.
The farmer had allegedly assaulted Nnebe, 34, with the help of some of his employees, and left him for dead. The following day, thinking that Nnebe was dead, he allegedly untied him and threw his body in the bushes. Nnebe regained consciousness and fled.
But his fellow farmworkers had already informed the police about the incident.
Police opened a case against Robertse and his three employees.
The case was withdrawn because Nnebe had gone back to Zimbabwe.
Last week Robertse was arrested for assaulting Lucky Mafoka, 31, and Morongwa Joyce Sekoba, 34 after he accused them of theft. Robertse is also accused of tying Mafoka and Sekoba to a roof.
He was granted R2000 bail.
