The match between FC AK and Witbank Spurs on Wednesday pitted two teams from the opposite ends of the National First Division Inland Stream, with Bahumi favourites to win - but Spurs refused to follow the script .

They downed the pacesetters 2-0 in an improved performance at Ackerville Stadium in Witbank.

FC AK still lead the pack in the Inland Stream log by five points despite the setback.

This after second-placed Winnerspark suffered a surprise 1-2 defeat against the struggling University of Pretoria in Tshwane on the same day.

Winnerspark went into this clash oozing confidence after they clinched a technical sponsorship deal with Xco Sport on the eve of their trip to Pretoria.

Kwezi "Meneer" Masondo, FC AK manager, said their mission to challenge for promotion to the Absa Premiership this season was still on track despite their defeat on Wednesday.

"Our competitors should write us off at their own peril," he said.

African Warriors were due to play Mpumalanga Black Aces at Charles Mopeli Stadium yesterday. Maritzburg United were pitted against Nathi Lions at Harry Gwala Stadium.

Dynamos welcome GaRankuwa United to NkowaNkowa Stadium outside Tzaneen in an Inland Stream clash today at 4pm.

FC Cape Town engage Western Province United in a Mother City derby at Blue Downs Stadium in another match billed for today also at 4pm.

Durban Stars meet Coastal Stream title challengers Bay United at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi today.

Ikapa Sporting entertain Hanover Park in another Cape derby at Erica Park Stadium tomorrow at 4pm.
