Former Generations actress Pamela Nomvete is back on TV.
Nomvete, who became popular when she played Ntsiki in Generations, making the character the ultimate icon of the soapie, now appears on the SABC1 series Castle Lite Crossroads.
The detective series will run for eight weeks. In real life, though, Nomvete is actually in London plying her trade.
Before the advent of Generations Nomvete worked the competitive London theatre circuit, including the Royal Shakespeare Theatre Company.
She was born in Ethiopia to exiled South African parents, but grew up in London.
She slipped out of the limelight when she left Generations and briefly concentrated on theatre. Efforts to speak to her yesterday were unsuccessful. Her South African agent, Yvonne Plowright, could not be reached for comment. However, a source close to the actress confirmed that Nomvete was now based in London.
"She only came to shoot the series in December before flying back to the UK just before Christmas," the source said.
Castle Lite Crossroads airs every Friday at 8.55pm.
