It's all systems go for the Sasol-Secunda Marathon that will be staged at the Secunda recreational club on Saturday.

The race comprises a 42,1km, 21,1km and 10km run.

Organiser Frank Wright said: "Everything is up to scratch. At the moment we can confirm that a total of 350 athletes have already registered to take part in the race.

"We are expecting 1 000 athletes to take part and the race also accommodates disabled athletes who will compete in a separate 10km," he said.

This year's event will take place without the likes of Josiah Thugwane and Sipho Ngomane, who have been regular features in previous races. They are in Durban to take part in the South African Marathon Championships.

In their absence Ntuthuko Maseko of Harmony Gold Club and Enos Matalane of the Nelspruit Marathon Club should shine.
