A bit of tomfoolery at a cattle dip turned tragic for two boys when they slipped off a pole and drowned in the muddy waters yesterday.

The incident happened at Tshumbupfe village in Vuwane near Thohoya- ndou, Limpopo.

The two Grade R boys were walking home from Tshisevhe Primary School when they stopped at the dip and started playing on the equipment.

They apparently both slipped from one of the poles on which they were playing and fell into the dip.

The boys tried in vain to swim out of the dip.

Policehave identified the deceased as Dzivhuluwani Mudau and Khumbelo Mushiana, both aged four.

Limpopo police spokesman, Superintendent Mohale Ramatseba, said police have opened an inquest docket.

Meanwhile, the search continues for Hezekiel Ngwanamosadi Mphahlele, 21, who drowned as he was trying to cross over the Lepelle River at Nkotokwane village near Lebowakgomo on Saturday.

Mphahlele was trying to cross the overflowing river to the village on the other side, but slipped and drowned.

At the time of going to print, members of the public and police were still searching for his body.
