That, and the one-all draws they luckily got against Angola and Senegal, has finally awoken us to what p cynics warned us about - Bafana Bafana will exit in the first round.

But as patriots, we defended and supported our national team, believing that the honour of hosting the 2010 World Cup would act as a spur in Ghana.

Our patriotism and aspirations for excellence from Bafana Bafana persuaded us to give them another chance.

But the team is now a dangerous weapon that pierces our generous hearts.

With each game, our nation's soul is tortured. Unashamedly, they have pushed us into the hollows of shame, taking away from us any reason to believe again in our own football talent.

That we still have a national soccer team is more to line the pockets of smart business individuals than for competition purposes - or to unite and uplift the nation. How else do you explain our pathetic performances despite being sustained by millions of rands and playing on manicured fields?

The irony is that almost all the teams we compete against would kill for our amazing resources.
