HARD DONE MAN

A Limpopo taxi owner who caught a man in bed with his wife has spoken out for the first time since the seducer drowned in a river while trying to flee.

The taxi owner, of Steelpoort, said he knew all along that his wife was cheating on him but did not know with whom.

The errant wife subsequently confessed and asked him to forgive her.

In an interview with Sowetan yesterday, the taxi owner, whose name Sowetan is withholding, said he arrived home on that day unaware he would find his wife in the arms of another man.

"I am talking to her. She says she is sorry."

He arrived home at about 11am to have something to eat because he did not have breakfast that morning, only to find her in bed with another man.

He did not know the man but later found out that he was Dickson Makeke, who was a community liaison officer in the Greater Sekhukhune District Municipality.

The taxi owner said other villagers joined him chase the man after he had fled. He (taximan) returned home while the others pursued the fleeing seducer.

"I do not even know where the chase ended because I had already returned home. I was hungry," he said.

He said he had previously confronted his wife about the allegations over the affair but she denied them.

"I heard about my wife's extra-marital affair with the man about four months prior to the day I caught them in bed," he said.

He said he wished Makeke was still alive so that he could sue him for breaking up his marriage.

His wife, whose name Sowetan is also withholding, yesterday confessed to having had an affair with Makeke, but said she regretted it.

"I am sorry. I so wish everything could just be water under the bridge and my husband and I could bury the hatchet and start from scratch," she said.

Police spokesman Superintendent Mohale Ramatseba said yesterday that the search was still on for the missing Makeke, who is believed to have drowned.
