The national Under-23 team and their Denmark counterparts played to a goalless draw in their international friendly at Eldorado Park Stadium yesterday.

The first half was boring as both sides failed to break the stalemate due to poor finishing.

But towards the end of this half striker Lebogang Mokoena, pictured, almost gave the home side the lead but his low shot from close range missed the mark with Denmark's Lasse Heinze off-guard.

In the second period the hosts upped their performance with the trio of Mokoena, Michael Nkambule and Sibusiso Radebe desperately searching for goals. But they found the Denmark defence, marshalled by Magnust Troest, unyielding. The two teams meet again at Caledonian stadium in Pretoria on Saturday at 3pm. - Mesh Khotha
