Determined businessmen said yesterday they would come up with solutions to survive Eskom's power cuts.
They support the power utility's plan to reduce demand for electricity by 10percent.
Bill Gallagher of Southern Sun Hotels said his group has already started conserving electricity.
The plan was laid out two years ago when power cuts hit the Western Cape.
"We have looked at how we can reduce consumption in the kitchen and bucketroom by switching off appliances that are not in use. We are also looking at air conditioners and how we can control them without making people feel uncomfortable.
"It won't help to switch off the bedroom lights as this will have a huge impact on tourism."
Gallagher says everyone must pitch in to eliminate power cuts.
The Cradle Restaurant at the Cradle of Humankind in Krugersdorp is another business that is "more than happy" to help Eskom achieve it goals.
Manager Thuli Dube says the business has installed its own generators to power its freezers and computer system.
"We would do anything . If [using our own generators] will help, then we feel we should help Eskom save the power it needs."
On Tuesday Eskom announced a plan to save up to 4000MW over the next four weeks. That is a little more than 10percent of its capacity when all its power stations are running .
Phase two of the plan will then kick in with power rationing for four months, which means more load shedding.
