Ballet fans have every reason to smile again this year because, once again, the South African Ballet Theatre (SABT) has a feast of ballet in store for them.

Ushering in the new season is The Sleeping Beauty. Accompanied by the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the production is partially funded by Rand Merchant Bank.

Produced by Alexei Ilin and the company (SABT), the season runs at the Johannesburg Civic Theatre from March 29 to April 13.

SABT will also host a Sleeping Beauty Open Day at its studios at the Johannesburg Civic Theatre on March 1 from 10am onwards. Tickets for The Sleeping Beauty Open Day, and all other SABT Open Days, are relatively cheap at R40 a person. Bookings are now open.

Bookings for The Sleeping Beauty are through Computicket and prices for the spectacular production range from R50 to R192. A shortened holiday morning performance takes place during the school holidays on Tuesday, April 8 at 11am. Tickets are R65.

The SABT and The Black Tie Ensemble join forces from April 24 to April 27 to present Autumn Enchantment at The South African State Theatre in Pretoria.

It is a programme of romantic excerpts from popular operas, musicals and ballets in the tradition of the popular Valentine Enchantment performances. The orchestral ensemble will be conducted by maestro Graham Scott who will also be arranging various scores.
