Mpumalanga police are still looking for the so-called "blue light gang" which impersonates police on the N4 freeway.

The gang uses police reflectors and blue lights to hijack and rob people. The search comes after a high-speed chase and shoot-out between the police and six men on Friday night.

Police were allegedly manning a road block at Kapmuiden when they received a complaint that a truck driver had been robbed. Superintended Abie Khoabane said police rushed to the scene and found six armed men. Their car made a U-turn and the occupants started firing at the police. A suspect was fatally wounded during the shoot-out.
