South Africa has experienced heavy rainfall in the past three weeks.

Mpumalanga, Limpopo, KwaZulu-Natal, North West and Gauteng provinces have all been affected.

KwaZulu-Natal had the highest levels of rainfall with 316mm reported on the south coast of the province for the first three weeks of January. Limpopo followed with a maximum of 121, while North West was on 86 and Gauteng on 64mm.

In many parts of the country, heavy rains resulted in flooding.

Heavy rains washed away roads and bridges in Moroka municipality in Mpumalanga, cutting off five villages.

Several parts of Pretoria also experienced flooding in the city last week. The same was reported in Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal.
