After its premiere at the FNB Dance Umbrella last year, Beautiful Me, a dance piece by Gregory Maqoma, has travelled the world delighting international audiences.
Maqoma, one of the country's most successful black dancers, is now in Paris, preparing to perform this sublime piece for dance enthusiasts over there.
The show is in high demand both locally and internationally and has been showcased in London, Birmingham, Oslo and The Hague. It has also been performed in the United States and Portugal.
Maqoma who owns Vuyani Dance Theatre, flew to France on Saturday.
From January 25 to January 30, Maqoma and his cast, which includes Isaac Molelekoa, Bongani Kunene, Poorvi Bhana and Given Mphago, will perform for French audiences at the Center National de la Danse in Paris.
When he returns on Friday he will resume preparations for the 20th anniversary of the FNB Dance Umbrella, at which his three works, Southern Comfort, Skeleton Dry and Muntu will be featured.
Southern Comfort will be performed at the FNB Dance Umbrella on March 28 and 29 at 8pm.
His duet, which won the FNB Vita Best Choreography in 2001, will be revamped to appear as one of the highlights in the FNB Dance Umbrella.
Skeleton Dry will be performed at the Wits Theatre on March 4 and 5 at 8pm.
The piece is a new work by Maqoma and it shows promising signs. It is set on the terrain of the silent.
Muntu will be on at the Wits Theatre on March 1 at 8pm and March 2 at 3pm.
