The troubled National Arts Council (NAC), has been rocked by yet another scandal.

A few weeks ago, the NAC had been commended for having eventually put its house in order.

However, Sowetan learned yesterday that the council has fired one of its senior managers, Funiwe Kubalo.

Kubalo, who is accused of insubordination, among other charges, was allegedly dismissed last Friday following a disciplinary hearing.

Kubalo held the influential position of assistant manager in charge of arts development.

A few weeks ago, the council gave itself a pat on the back by eventually delivering a clean audit.

It celebrated this achievement after many years of annually delivering a qualified audit punctuated by management wrangling, by advertising its clean bill of health in newspaper adverts.

The council has also just lost its chief executive officer Selan Naidoo. Kubalo did not want to comment about her dismissal yesterday.
