Now that electricity load shedding is part of our lives, we better get over our anger and come up with creative ways of living with the devil.

Now that electricity load shedding is part of our lives, we better get over our anger and come up with creative ways of living with the devil.

A man in Pretoria has already shown the way. He cut his electricity bill by half by installing a timer switch that controls the power supply to his geyser and other appliances.

We have no choice. We must explore alternative energy sources. The taxman has taken the initiative by offering businesses tax rebates of up to 150 percent for the government's drive to power traffic lights with solar energy. Solar panels on our roofs can also conserve electricity.

Rather than moan about Eishkom, we can all heed the call to save 20percent of electricity for our own good.
