Black Leopards' coach Boebie "Mzala" Solomons is pleased with the performance of his charges in the three friendly matches they played against Malawian clubs.

"The trip was fruitful and we managed to fulfil our objectives in Malawi," said Solomons yesterday.

Lidoda Duvha beat MTL Wanderers 4-2 on penalties in Blantyre last week Tuesday but lost 4-5 against Big Bullets in the capital Lilongwe two days later, also decided on penalties.

Leopards wound up their Malawian sojourn on a high when they pipped the stubborn Silver Striker 2-1, also in Lilongwe, on Sunday.

Edward Malinga, who is expected to sign for Leopards this week, played the first two matches in Malawi. He did not play on Sunday because he got a slight knock against Bullets.

Solomons said the Orlando Pirates defender "showed character despite the fact that he has not been playing for a while. He was strong in the air and always first on the ball."

He also hailed young players such as midfielders Mandla Masuku and Buhle Maphumulo.
