The Edgars Music Series is back for a new season from February 1.

The monthly-concert series has for the past few years given a platform to young talent and many young singers and musicians have had a chance to perform.

In what promises to be a rocking start to the 2008 series, the event will combine styles and genres to give audiences a taste of truly modern local music.

The event will take place at Bassline in Newtown, Johannesburg. Starting the calender will be Lira, Loyiso, Malik, Ntando, Rea and DJ Zee.

Award-winning Lira has done well for herself since the release of her second album, Feel Good. The young singer from Daveyton has endeared herself to jazz lovers. Her music is a mix of Afro-jazz and other styles.

Afro-pop sensation Ntando Bangani will be the star of the show. Ntando's third offering, Uhambo Lwami, is doing well currently.

Loyiso Bala has been added for variety. Bala is a very talented R&B musician who has become very popular.

Tickets are R50 at the door or R60 at Computicket.
