The Protea magistrate's court is today expected to sentence controversial Ithuteng Trust director Jackey Maarohanye, pictured.

Maarohanye, otherwise known as Mama Jackey or the Angel of Soweto, was found guilty on two counts of kidnapping in November last year. Her two accomplices Ronnie "Papa Action" Nyakale, 34, and Mpho Makhate, 24, will be sentenced on two counts of kidnapping and four of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm each.

In September last year, her case of public violence and damage to property was thrown out of court for lack of evidence. This after she and her school's children allegedly barricaded the Old Potch Road, burning tyres and disturbing traffic.

In October she also emerged victorious after being accused of kidnapping and assaulting Sowetan journalist Vusi Ndlovu.

In November Maarohanye's luck finally ran out, and together with Nyakale and Makhate, she was found guilty of kidnapping and assaulting former Ithuteng pupil Simphiwe Ncoguthu in February 2006.

The court heard that they kidnapped Ncoguthu outside his home and bundled him into the back of Maarohanye's BMW. They then took him to Ithuteng where they slapped, kicked and undressed him for the school's girls to poke fun at. He was then paraded naked before the assault continued.

"That was the worst humiliation I ever had to endure in my entire life," Ncoguthu said.

His feet were doused with petrol and a thick, rolled paper was lit and put between his toes. A doctor's report showed that Ncoguthu had partially lost hearing in his right ear and had urinated blood after the assault.

Today the three face Magistrate David Mhango for sentencing.
