Winnerspark will rely on their versatile and strong midfield to beat FC Cape Town and advance to the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup when the two meet at Blue Downs Stadium in Cape Town at 7.30pm today.
The Seshego-based outfit advanced to this stage following their hard-earned victory over Bidvest Wits through a penalty shootout.
Their midfield, composed of Morgan Shivambu, Musa Nkondo, Michael Mulaudzi and Malesela Molekwa, is expected to be the team's pillar of strength.
"We are more than ready to face the Capetonians in their own backyard. One other advantage is that last week's light rain showers in the province will assist the boys to acclamatise with the weather in the Cape," said Winnerspark general manager Trevor Lekalakala.
"There is no way we can try to underestimate them because they beat Durban Stars to be this stage."
Meanwhile, FC Cape Town coach Johnny Fereira said all his boys, with the exception of the injured midfielder Yanga Ngalishe and central defender Francois Adams, were ready to beat Winnerspark.
"We will make full use of home ground advantage, " said Fereira.
After tomorrow's match Winnerspark will face their homeboys Dynamos in a must-win National First Division Limpopo derby, if they still have intentions of qualifying for the playoffs.
In another match, Mpumalanga Black Aces will battle FC AK at Atlantic Stadium in Witbank, also at 7.30pm today.
Both teams admitted that the match was going to be tough.
Both said they had several players nursing injuries.
"The absence of our key players such as Felix and Kabamba Musasa, Ebule Samuel, Lindebuhle Mbatha and Vusiwe Masondo because of injuries will not stop us from beating FC AK.
"All the players are committed and trustworthy to beating Bahumi and advance to the quarterfinals," Aces spokesman Thabo "T-bose" Moroape said.
