Moroka Swallows' assistant coach Innocent "Ayobayo" Mayoyo is optimistic that the high-flying Birds will annex the Absa Premiership this season.

The Birds, who are fifth on the log, four points behind log leaders Ajax Cape Town, said they were in a better position than ever to win the league championship.

"It's now or never," said Mayoyo. "If we can't win the league title this season, Swallows will never win it. This is our chance and we cannot slip up.

"The guys are playing well and are very committed. We hope to do well in the second and last round of the league."

Mayoyo said they were on the verge of signing Siphesihle Ngobese, who he tips to restore the Birds to their halcyon days.

"We believe that the youngster will add that much-needed flair to the side, that reminds one of the days of Joel "Ace" Mnini," said Mayoyo.

He added that midfield general Lefa Tsutsulupa has renewed his contract by signing a four-and-a-half-year extension, which will expire soon after the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa.

Said Tsutsulupa: "We need to build a brand and Swallows is the platform.

"As far as retiring is concerned, I can't say I'll retire at Swallows because anything can happen, but I'm happy at the club."

Tsutsulupa, who has been Swallows' engine room, has been at his best in the past season and his extended stay at the Birds will assist them challenge for the league title.

Swallows' general manager Sipho Xulu said: "Tsutsulupa signed the four-year contract because he wanted to stay at Swallows for a longer period."
