The South African government yesterday wished Bafana Bafana good luck in their quest to reclaim the Africa Cup of Nations title.

Makhenkesi Stofile, Minister of Sport and Recreation, said they were confident that Aaron "Mbazo" Mokoena and company will make South Africa proud in Ghana.

Bafana Bafana are one of the four southern Africa countries who have qualified to take part in the biennial tournament from Sunday to February 10.

The other three countries are Zambia, Angola and Namibia. Angola are in the same group with Bafana Bafana for the first round.

"We hope that they (Bafana Bafana) do us proud and bring the cup back home," said Stofile yesterday.

"The commitment and sacrifices made in preparation for this tournament are not limited to benefit this tournament alone, but it is part of an ongoing programme for improving the quality of African football.

"Ghana 2008 is part of the CAF 50th anniversary celebrations. It is also building towards the Confederations Cup in 2009, and of course a key preparation for the 2010 (World Cup).

"Some big names in African football have prepared well for this tournament. So have we. We are confident in the expertise of the coach and his technical team, as well as the captain and his army," continued Stofile.
