Lyle Aloile and Itumeleng Lesenyeho led the Swimming South Africa youth brigade medal charge at the Malawi Invitational Gala, held in Lilongwe, earlier this week.

Lyle Aloile and Itumeleng Lesenyeho led the Swimming South Africa youth brigade medal charge at the Malawi Invitational Gala, held in Lilongwe, earlier this week.

Competing in the boys Under-15 and 16 competition, Cape Town-based Aloile made the trip to the top of the medal podium on five occasions as he claimed gold in the 50m breaststroke (30,86 seconds), 50m butterfly (26,68), 50m freestyle (24,42), 100m freestyle (53,79) and 200m freestyle (2 min 00,00 seconds).

Gauteng-based Lesenyeho excelled in the boys Under-12 age group in collecting the top honours in the 100m backstroke (1:12,86) and in the 100m freestyle (1:03,53) this week. - Sowetan
