Shakira turns away from nudity

Shakira turned down the chance to star in a new movie Love in The Time of Cholera, because the role involved her stripping naked.

Shakira turned down the chance to star in a new movie Love in The Time of Cholera, because the role involved her stripping naked.

The singer has been nominated for a Golden Globe for her soundtrack for the Mike Newell film - and she reveals Gabriel Garcia Marquez, who wrote the original book, wanted her to act in it as well.

But the 30-year-old was scared a nude scene would anger her parents. Shakira says: "There was nudity involved, so I said no. My parents would not like it at all. So I said thank you, but no thank you."

Meanwhile, former James Bond actor Sir Roger Moore has lavished praise on Colombian singer Shakira, branding her a "very talented lady".

The actor, 80, has become friends with the star through their work with the charity Unicef, of which they are both goodwill ambassadors, and admits he's a big fan of Shakira's.

He says: "I know Shakira and her great work. She's a very talented lady." - Wenn
