ANC youth back arms probe
The ANC must leave no stone unturned in finding the culprit or culprits involved in the controversial arms deal, the ANC Youth League said yesterday.
Spokesman Zizi Kodwa said the league supported the national executive committee (NEC) to get a detailed report on the arms deal.
Kodwa said: "We are confident that this will clarify contradicting reports and statements, suspicions, perceptions and ongoing investigations on the arms deal by different authorities."
He said if the committee appointed by the NEC found any wrongdoing, it "must deal with such cases without fear or favour". The NEC has appointed a special committee to look into the practical form the support for ANC president Jacob Zuma will take before and during his pending corruption trial.
Zuma was recently charged with corruption by the National Prosecuting Authority emanating from an alleged R4million bribe.
The committee comprises deputy president Kgalema Motlanthe, treasurer-general Mathews Phosa and members Jeremy Cronin, Sankie Mthembi-Mahanyele, Siphiwe Nyanda, Naledi Pandor, Cyril Ramaphosa and Lindiwe Sisulu.
The committee would also consider the broader context within which the case against Zuma was taking place.
