Anybody with even a cursory interest in world politics watches the US elections with keen interest.

Anybody with even a cursory interest in world politics watches the US elections with keen interest.

That should be more so now after the runaway electoral success of Barack Obama.

His triumph at the Democratic presidential caucus last week makes him the first black man with a real chance of taking a credible shot at the US presidency.

Who would have thought that a black man would one day stand on the brink of saving the US from monumental blunders of the rightwing Republican Party?

Will so-called liberal Americans cross the racial Rubicon?

Why not? In Obama, the US has a real opportunity to help it shed its bully image and unilateralism for which it is resented globally.
