The pitch-off of the second round of the Limpopo Softball Association (LSA's) LimDev Super League will be delayed until next month because players will be involved in different national events this month.
The initial date for the pitch-off was January 20, but the programme will resume next month at a date still to be decided by the provincial controlling body.
"Some of our teams will take part in the Gordon Monk Tournament and we will also send our Under-19 players for selection in Bloemfontein this month, so we decided to delay the pitch-off of the second round," Benny Boshomane, LSA's director of tournaments, said yesterday.
"We had an enthralling first round and we hope the second round will be equally captivating.
"I will also issue the dates for our regular training camps, which we host in conjunction with the Limpopo Academy of Sports, for the second round."
He said the selection will be conducted on the weekend of January 18 to 20 and this will culminate in the selection of a national boys' Under-19 squad to compete at the International Softball Federation's World Junior Championships in Canada in July.
The yearly Gordon Monk event will be held in Kempton Park on the weekend of January 25 to 27.
All the softball teams in the country will also take a break during March for Softball South Africa's national championships at Turfhall Softball Stadium in Athlone, Cape Town, from March 10 to 15.
