Icasa on a drive to keep prices down

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa is on a drive to bring about more competition in the country's telecommunications market.

The authority yesterday released a list of possible retail and wholesale markets in the telecoms sector where operators might have unfair competitive advantage.

Icasa's Tracy Cohen said: "The Electronic Communications Act requires that we define the markets that telecommunications companies might have unfair advantage in before we can start implementing any regulations." - Leseja Mokgata
