Zuma appeals belie innocence

Jacob Zuma must go to court to clear the air regarding the charges laid against him.

Jacob Zuma must go to court to clear the air regarding the charges laid against him.

These are serious charges and the South African public, and the world, are waiting eagerly for the outcome of the court case since Zuma could become the president of South Africa. I don't understand why Zuma is trying everything possible to keep the evidence out of court.

If he is indeed innocent, as he claims, than why all the court applications opposing the different rulings? They all claimed that these charges were a smear campaign to prevent him from becoming ANC president. He is the ANC president now and still they cry foul when he is charged.

We all knew that he would be recharged and that it was only a matter of time.

To all those who cry foul about the timing of the delivery of the indictment: the law never rests, it operates 24 hours, seven days a week and 365 days a year.

Zuma is not above the law. He must be treated the same as everybody else. And he should know that as a person who is close to the poor. Some people claim that if Zuma goes on trial then so does the ANC.

I don't think that's a valid argument.
