Two boys aged 14 and 15 drowned in a quarry in Duduza, Katlehong, yesterday.

Police spokesman Superintendent Eugene Opperman said a group of teenagers had been swimming in the quarry when they noticed that one of them was having difficulty getting out of the water.

"Another boy jumped into the water to try and help him, but he also drowned," said Opperman.

Meanwhile, the body of a 17-year-old boy was "fished" out of Spaarwater River in the same area on Wednesday.

Police spokesman Captain Mega Ndobe said the body was found by a man who had been fishing.

Instead of pulling out a fish, the men's rod got hooked on the body and pulled it out to the surface.
