South Africans should rally around the women's national Under-20 team as they attempt to make history by being the first women's team to qualify for the World Cup.

This is according to head coach of women football August Makalakalane, as the team prepare to clash with Mozambique on January 13, in the first of their qualifying matches.

"Our hopes are pinned on them to achieve this feat, which no other women's team have managed. We don't mean to heap on the pressure, but we have invested a lot in this group over the years, and now it is time for them to deliver."

Most players in the team, coached by Annah Monate, have benefitted from the best facilities because most live at the High Performance centre. They also recently returned from a Germany and Netherlands tour with credible performances against thee two countries.

l Makalakalane appeals to schools or clubs throughout the country to recommend Under-17 and Under-20 goal goalkeepers. Call Monate on 082-422-1043, Fran Hilton-Smith 079-4947-660 or Makalakalane on 082-9901-404.
