No hurry to seek replacement for 'Terror'
High-riding Ajax Cape Town have no immediate plans to venture into the transfer market in search of a replacement for Thembinkosi "Terror" Fanteni.
Fanteni is officially a Maccabi Haifa player in Israel with effect from January 1 after signing a three-year deal worth R10 million.
A member of the Bafana Bafana squad to the Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana this month, Fanteni signed on the dotted line with Maccabi in October.
Thabiso "Shooz" Mekuto, Ajax's publicist, said: "It is true that Terror is no longer with us, he will be going to Israel after the Afcon.
"In fact, the Israel club's technical staff wanted Terror as early as mid December to be part of their team until the end of the year.
"However, Terror had already made arrangements to go on holiday in the Eastern Cape. He is going to the Bafana Bafana camp on Saturday.
"We are not going to rush to the transfer market now that Terror is gone. Granted, he is a great player, but we still have equally good four strikers."
Mekuto identified them as Malawian Russel Mwafulirwa, Nathan Paulse, Andile Mbenyane and Clinton Emmanuel.
Mbenyane was promoted from the Urban Warriors' development at the beginning of the season, while Emmanuel joined them from Hanover Park.
"We are well aware that the transfer window period is open, but we are quite satisfied with what we have now in terms of our plans to challenge for the honours," added Mekuto.
Meanwhile, another South African international will be leaving Ajax at the end of the season to join Ajax Amsterdam in Holland.
Dylon "Alarm" Claasen, Amajita midfielder, has already signed a contract with the Dutch giants which will become effective from June 1.
"The problem is that Dylon was still underage in terms of the European requirements when he signed with Amsterdam. He only turned 18 on December 24," said Mekuto.
"Dylon will still be with us until the end of the season.
"We are delighted that he recovered from an injury and will be back in action Afcon break."
Ajax return from the festive season break on Monday.
