Former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs striker Phumlani "BMX" Mkhize is set to revive his career with Swaziland First Division outfit, Malanti Chiefs.

Currently playing for KwaZulu-Natal Vodacom League side Abaqulusi, Mkhize said negotiations with Malanti are at advanced stage.

"I haven't signed anything yet with Malanti, but our negotiations are at an advanced stage and are expected to be concluded before the end of the week," he said.

Mkhize has scored 16-goals in 12-matches for his Abaqulusi team this season and is looking forward to transform his goal scoring form to the Swaziland team.

"I'm looking forward to join the Swaziland team and help them regain their Premier League of Swaziland status," said the 35-year old striker.

Malanti were relegated to the First Division last season.

Abel "Chakclas" Shongwe, who hails from Swaziland, is the man behind Mkhize's move. Shongwe is coaching Abaqulusi, a team Mkhize is currently playing for.

"Mkhize has been scoring regularly for us (Abaqulusi) and if he goes we will miss his contribution," said Shongwe.

"His deal with Malanti is almost done. It is only a work permit that needs to be sorted out."

According to Swazi Times, Mkhize has received a signing fee of R25 000 from Malanti and will play for the remaining five months.

Mkhize, before joining Bucs, together with Sibusiso Zuma were both from African Wanderers. Mkhize and Zuma formed a deadly combination with another lethal goal poacher Siyabonga Nomvethe.

After being lured by Chiefs, Mkhize suffered a loss of form before momentarily moving to Free State Stars. Mkhize will not be the only player from South Africa to play in Swaziland in recent times.

Jomo Cosmos' boss Jomo Sono has sent three players to his Swaziland-based side Umbelebele Jomo Cosmos in September. They are Rofhiwo Rfhikovhi, Fanele Gasa and Alain Rebelo.
