Amajita coach, Serame Letsoaka, is delighted that Safa has again accepted an invitation to take part in the DaimlerChrysler International Youth Tournament in Germany.
The South African Under-20 national soccer side arrived in Germany yesterday morning to take part in the yearly tournament.
The five-a-side tournament features some of the top clubs in the world, but South Africa have been represented by Amajita for the past three years.
"For us it's a good thing to be part of this great tournament, we use it to further expose our players to international soccer," said Letsoaka, pictured.
"It also helps us to gauge the areas where we are still lacking behind as compared to our brothers in other parts of the world.
"We have selected a formidable team, the majority of the youngsters in the team have played in various youth competitions for South Africa."
South Africa are in Group A with Fenerbache (Turkey), Shalke04, Karlsruhe and Kaiserslautern (all from Germany). The other group is made up of AS Monaco (Monaco), FC Bassel (Switzerland), Dynamo Kiev (Russia), Hertha Berlin and VfB Stuttgart (all from Germany).
Amajita finished 12th and eighth 2006 and 2007, respectively. They take on Karlsruhe in the first game tomorrow and later on the same day Fenerbache, Shalke04 and Kaiserslautern
"We really need to improve, we are not here on holiday," said Eddie du Plooy, the South African team's head of delegation.
Also in Germany with Amajita is Stanley "Screamer" Tshabalala, Safa's head of national youth teams.
Some of the experienced youth players in the team are Thulani Ngcepe (Moroka Swallows), George Maluleke (Tukkies) and Kermit Erasmus (SuperSport United). Letsoaka has also roped in new recruit Mapadima "Bally" Smart, who plays for Norwich City in the UK.
