Safa Soweto wants to challenge Bafana Bafana before the national squad leaves for the Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana on January 19.

The organisation's president, Phil "Chippa" Mogodi, said this after the Discovery Walter Sisulu Challenge final at the Pimville/Klipspruit ground at the weekend.

The final was between Ndofaya's Galatasary and Pimville Young Stars, which the Arthur Zwane-owned side won 3-1.

"We have talent in abundance in the townships and these players are hungry for glory, and they can give their big brothers a run for their money," said Mogodi.

He added that if they could be afforded that opportunity, he believed a selection side from Gauteng's off-season games could do well to give Bafana a good practiCe match before their departure.

The final itself was exciting from the opening to the last whistle.

Watched by hundreds of fans, both sides did not disappoint as they produced copybook football.

It was Galatasary's second victory of this coveted trophy and they indeed deserved it and the R45000 first prize.

The Pimville-based Young Stars were the first to score through David Duif.

Zwane's Meadowlands side equalised through Chippa Mnguni, and a few minutes before interval Galatasary increased the margin through Itshegetseng Izinyokanyoka.

They scored the third goal through Jerry Tsubane to see Galatasary claiming the title for the second time in three years.

In another final, Fabulous beat the Soweto Ladies 4-1.

Boys Under-17 Final: Pimville Cameroon 0, Ipswich 0 (Pimville Cameroon won 5-4 on penalties.

Kwamahlobo Games fixtures today: Sugar Black Heroes v Dobsonville United; Naledi All Stars v City United; Zola Lazio v Mashume Spares; Siyabangena v AV FC; Together FC v Meadowlands Highlands Power; Selelekele v Platinum Stars.

The knockout stage of the tournaments starts on Wednesday, and they will be honouring Excellent Walaza before he goes into camp with Bafana Bafana.
