The 2007 entertainment calendar will be wrapped up on a high note today as New Year celebrations take place in various provinces.
Kicking off the celebrations is 5FM/Savanna Sixth Sense New Year's Party at Citrus Lounge, Johannesburg, and at Woodstock in Cape Town.
The two cities will be linked via a live crossing. Those partying in Jozi can therefore hear exactly what's going on down in Cape Town.
The Cape Town party features Christina Knight, Euphonik, Roger Goode, Shaun Duvet, Mlu and Harael. Tickets are available at Computicket at R250. VIP tickets cost R400.
At Citrus Lounge in Roger Road, Selby, the line-up includes DJ Sureshnie Rider, Nicole Fox, DJ Fresh, Erica Elle, Kevin Grenfell, Koula, Kent and Dino Bravo.
Tickets are available at Computicket for R300. VIP tickets cost R450.
Those looking for more action can go to Goodhope Centre, Cape Town, where the 7th Cape Town Homecoming Music Festival will be happening.
The show starts at 6pm and features Stimela, Ringo, Roby Malinga, Prokid, Lira, Malaika, Siphokazi, Tuks Senganga, 3Sum and many more.
Tickets cost R150 at Computicket.
At Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown, Johannesburg, musicians such as Mango Groove, Oliver Mtukudzi and Malaika will be performing.
The event is free and starts at 6pm until tomorrow morning.
Still in Johannesburg, the Joburg Carnival is back again and promises to bring the inner-city to vibrant life and usher in 2008 with a colourful flourish.
The carnival will start at 2pm at Kotze Street, Hillbrow, with various troupes accompanied by choirs and bands, gaily bedecked trucks housing sound systems, street performers as well as musicians and DJs.
It will proceed along the Nelson Mandela Bridge into Newtown, culminating in performances by the various troupes at Newtown Park from 4pm.
This event is also free.
In Durban, gospel music lovers should brace themselves for spiritual entertainment when Asingene Siphila Gospel Festival takes place at Kings Park.
The festival boasts an interesting line-up of artists such as Deborah Fraser, Sifiso Ncwane, Andile Majola, Ithemba Lam, Lundi and Avente.
It starts at 6pm and tickets will only cost you R40.
Those who don't want gospel can join DJ Ready D, Coco and others at Umhlanga Rocks Grounds where Mr White's Umhlanga Party will be rocking.
Tickets cost R365 while VIP tickets cost R515.
