The management of National First Division side Mpumalanga Black Aces is looking to reinforce the squad with some additional quality players.

Aces spokesman Thabo "T-Bose" Moroape, yesterday, said: "We are looking to reinforce our midfield and strike force, and all the new signings will be revealed after our meeting on January 3."

They are, however, excited with finally signing on Nigerian striker Emanuel Eminiki.

Sowetan has learnt that Supersport United's transfer-listed duo of Alfred Maimane Phiri and Richard Rantjie are among the players that will be signed by the Mpumalanga-based side.

The two rarely played since Gavin Hunt took over the reins at United at the beginning of the season. Phiri received his clearance from United on Friday and is free to join a team of his choice.

Eminiki won the hearts of the Amazayoni faithful when he scored a brace when Aces sunk Premiership side Jomo Cosmos 4-2 in a friendly match in August at Ackerville Stadium.

He joins Aces from a Nigerian soccer academy.

The 20-year old striker has represented his country in the under-20 age group and is occasionally called to do duty for the under-23s.

"This is a very ambitious team and we want to get automatic promotion this season," said Moroape

He added that the reinforcement was not a vote of no-confidence in the existing squad but that it was about bringing in more competition to the team.

Meanwhile, Aces will play their first league game of the new year against former Limpopo arch-rivals WinnersPark, before they relocated to Mpumalanga at the beginning of the season.

The fixture will be played at Seshego Stadium, Polokwane, on January 12.
