ITALY - Many working Italians are more interested in cheating on their partner at lunchtime than in grabbing a bite to eat, according to a survey by psychology magazine Riza Psicosomatia.

The midday break between 12.30 and 2pm accounts for one in three acts of adultery, showed a poll taken among 1000 Italians aged 20-60. The rest said they went out for a pizza or a salad.

"Regardless of the location, whether in the car or in the office, it has to be over and done with quickly while everyone else is out to lunch or even in the restaurant restroom," the magazine said.

One in two of those quizzed claimed to have steadfastly resisted the temptation of sexual infidelity this year.

Those who did cheat on their partners said they tended to do so with work colleagues or with chance acquaintances - Sapa-DPA
